There weren't many reviews for this so I was wary when I bought it. I must say I'm very pleased!I have no idea of the battery life, but the sound quality is very nice. the included cables are of nice quality and do their job very well.Only real con is that the module auto-disconnects when you stop playing music for long enough but that seems to be common amongst most of the bluetooth receivers.Now I'm the kind of person who likes to tinker with things... so when I got this module it took me all of a day to tear it open (which is simple) it's now hardwired behind the dash of my car so that when the car is on the module is on and charging.works great in my car and just makes driving a little more enjoyable.for $20 I'd buy another if I had the need to do so.

O.k, this little device works. plug and play is easy enough - just like any bluetooth device, you have to try pairing a couple of times. it is mac friendly but bugs exist with OS X because it shut it down a few times. the range is good and it has a built in battery making it portable so this is really thoughtful of the designers. Now the problem is this - the sound quality leaves a whole lot to be desired. literally everything sounds worse. there is a lot of interference in the playback similar to when you put an unshielded speaker beside a t.v. This is really strange for bluetooth transmission and also counterproductive because most people using this device are trying to be couch D.J.s with this hooked up to the amplifier which is almost always beside the t.v & speakers....... think about it. So if you are an audiophile this will NOT satisfy you at all!

My requirement is simple and as stated in the product description: "Simply connect the Cicada to your line-in or auxiliary input on your speakers, pair the Cicada Bluetooth music receiver to your Bluetooth enabled device, and enjoy the wireless music revolution". This device faired poor on all the above.Connection: I connected the device to its power charger and let it charge the battery before using. Then, I paired it with my iPhone 4 (iOS 5) and it paired immediately. I turned it on to listen music and it played (note on music quality below). Then I turned it off and came back to reconnect but it would not. I had to delete the device from my iPhone and pair it again. This time, the pairing took forever but it finally worked. This behavior is now pretty much consistent with both mine and my wife's new iPhone 4S. Mostly, it requires pairing again.Sound Quality: Poor. I am not an audiophile but the sound quality of most type of music I played was poor. I compared sound quality by simply connecting the aux directly to my iPhone and then re-connecting it back to Cicada. Forget about the lows, but the mid and high are muffled.Range: Average. It lost range across multiple levels in the house but since the sound quality is poor anyway, there was less observable distortion at normal working ranges (< 30 feet).For the record, I did not contact customer service to "fix" this or help with any setup which could be causing the issues. This is fairly simple plu-and-play device and there is not much expected to be done to setup differently for improvement in quality or connection stability.I had to return it and I am back in the market for a good bluetooth audio receiver.
