No Warranty from Pioneer!!

This is a great reciever and an especially worth while step up from the VSX-811. The component video input can be handy for some devices that do not have HDMI such as the Nintendo Wii. Really a great deal when comparing similer priced Denon or Yamaha receivers that offer less features. Pioneer does not honor warranties from most online retailers. I love Amazon but this is worth buying from an authorized retailer.

Big Fat Expensive Lemon

After approximately 6 weeks, thing stopped working. Contacted Amazon, said they won't take it back or even fix it and to call Manufacturer. Contacted Manufacturer and was told, since this was an online purchase, they won't honor the 2 year manufacturer's warranty. Talk about a kick in the Who-Ha! NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS!!!

Purchased this receiver to replace an Onkyo receiver with a bad HDMI board which caused the video and audio signals to falter after three years of service. The same problem developed with this Pioneer elite VSX-42 after one week. Pioneer tech support had me run tests which confirmed it was the HDMI board which means it cannot be connected using HDMI cables. I was advised to return it without much sympathy from Pioneer tech support. I also could not calibrate my 7.1 channel speaker set-up after 20 attempts because of ambient noise in a completely quiet room.
