Dont waste your money

If you really want wireless for your Pioneer(or anything like this, e.g. xbox360) I suggest you do a search for a wireless gaming adapter/universal wifi adapter as this product is nothing more than an overpriced version of just that. Most major networking hardware companies(Linksys/Cisco, Netgear, D-Link, IOGear) make these. Make sure you buy the adapters that have a LAN port OUT. This is what you're looking for.*EDIT*The NETGEAR WNCE2001 Universal WiFi Internet Adapter seems to be the common alternative to the Pioneer. With rave reviews about price, setup and reliability, I highly recommend it over the Pioneer.

The AS-WL300 has a finicky set up and seems to have frequent signal drop out. When setting it up, re-setting to default did not always work. Instructions were inconsistent. CD based user manual instructs you to press the reset button for less than 2 seconds, release, then press and hold for more than 3 seconds. The Quick setup guide instructs you to press and hold once for 3 seconds. A better option that worked for me is to plug in a $99 Apple Airport Express near my Pioneer AVX 1021-K and run an ethernet cable from the Airport Express to the AV Receiver. The Airport Express is infinitely easier to set up and is more reliable streaming music w/ Airplay. Simply set up the Airport Express to extend your wireless network and it works as a repeater (I've paired 2 Airport Express units with my Apple Time Capsule wireless router for whole house coverage). The Airport Express paired with the Pioneer AVX 1021-K Receiver for Home Theater is outstanding and a great mid-priced value for the options it gives you. Along with Airplay compatible, the AVX-1021-K processes 3D HDMI signals, and has ARC feedback if your HDTV is so equipped.

I bought the Pioneer VSX-1021-K 7.1 Home Theater Receiver, Glossy Black for one specific feature: Apple Airplay. This technology is great when it works. I can play music directly from my iPhone or iPod with no wires. I feel like the Pioneer AS-WL300 WiFi Adapter for 2011 Networked AV Receivers - VSX-1021 and the Pioneer AS-BT200 Bluetooth Adapter for Compatible Pioneer Products, Black should have been built into the receiver rather than offered as a optional upgrades. I would have paid the difference in cost to have everything built in to one unit and not have another peripheral device sitting on my media shelf. Airplay is being touted as the killer feature for the vsx-1021k, but you can't even use it unless you purchase the adapters (which add over $200 to the total cost of the receiver). This certainly does not feel like a $150 wifi device. It drops the signal of my streaming music often and sometimes I can't even get it to pair with my devices. I'm considering purchasing the bluetooth adapter in hopes that it has a more stable connection, but I would be giving up the range of my wifi network for a range of about 30ft for a bluetooth adapter. I don't want my music to stop if I walk out of the room with my iPhone. I'm excited about Airplay technology, and I suppose I am paying the price for being an early adopter. Hopefully the supporting hardware will improve in the next few years.
