5Big power, lots of features
By Dan
I purchased the Aventage 2010 About a month ago, and after getting familiar with the unit, I love it. I has some of the coolest features. It is a network receiver and once hooked up to my network, all my devices on the network instantly recognized it and I was able to control the unit through them. I like the app. for the phone and tablets too being able to control the unit through those devices also is great feature when I am around the house listening to music. I have the receiver hooked up to my outside speakers as zone 3 and ceiling speakers inside for zone 2 and it is nice to be able to have different sources playing in all three. In my home theater I have the receiver in a 7.2 configuration and was blown away by the output, I know that this unit is a bit pricey but it takes the place of so many devices that it is worth having. I would recommend anyone who has the means to purchase this receiver to not even hesitate, it is great.

5Excellent, feature-rich clean sounding a/v receiver
By W. Chiles
I'm thoroughly delighted with this receiver having setup and tested it 2 days ago, and am continuing to enjoy it.It replaced an aging sony receiver with no hdmi connections and somewhat limited power. The ability to minimize cord clutter with streamlined hdmi connections is wonderful. My dvd/sacd player, formerly requiring six cords, now connects with one hdmi cable.Whereas the sony had discreet s-video and coax video circuits, this Yamaha receiver delivers all video connections (even coax and compoenent) to my tv monitor through its hdmi cable.I selected this unit based on several online reviews and comparison of price and features. I appreciate the quality of its components and expect it to have the kind of lifetime I experienced with my sony ES receiver.Sound is clean and transparent from all sources. I listen to a great deal of classical music over sacd which is especially demanding of an amps power and frequency response. The multi channel sonic image is well defined and easily balanced using the supplied ypao mic and program.Net radio access is a nice plus with 100s of available stations suiting every music genre. The yamaha's enhancement circuitry decidley improves the sound quality of mp3s over the web, and the fm tuner is quite sensitive. I appreciate how the unit fades out/in when changing stations, eliminating abrupt white noise between stations.Image processing does a decent job of improving lower resolution video from dvds or streaming video from netflix. The sound fields are more realistic than those of my prior sony receiver, though i typically choose a pass/direct option to eliminate as much processing as possible when listening to a dvd, sacd or cd.After downloading the yamaha control app to my iTouch and iPad, we had the ability to control the unit's inputs, volume, sound fields and on/off switching from our I/O devices.iTouch connections through the usb port provided clear onscreen info. of playlists and songs/albums/artists. The graphics are attractive HD quality.I notice many complaints re: the user manual and remote but they seem rather churlish to me given the number of options available on each. It takes some time to master the complexities of this receiver. I didn't mind having the manual on a cd vs. paper. The chief things I found wanting were:1. Ability to stream video off the web via a service like netflix. Perhaps a firmware upgrade in future will allow this.2. Ability to direct music output from a pc or mac via wireless. For now your music server must be physically connected to the receiver or router by ethernet cable.

5Outstanding receiver
By Thomas Runge
I had an old Panasonic 7.1 receiver which worked great for 7 years, but it had only an older HDMI implementation with 3 in and 1 out port. It was already THX certified and the sound was what I considered "really good".Wow, compared to the A2010, the old receiver almost sounds like a mono car radio system. Even though they had the same Watts output, the Yamaha sounded better with a smoother bass and much better surround effects. The various sound options on the 2010 really make a difference and having the different scenes at a push of a button makes watching TV almost fun again. The up-convert from the Wii (480 resolution) works very good. The internet radio is also a very cool build in feature, as is the option to control pretty much everything from a phone (iphone and android apps available) or from a PC or netbook. The setup was very easy and with the autmoatic sound setup routine, I was pretty much all set after 10 minutes. I am sure there are many, many options that I have not explored, but even "out of the box", it was good enough for me.I would buy it again in a heart beat and found a great deal "used" (I think it was a display model) here for $950 shipped. Not sure if I would spend $1500 for it, but on the other hand, I have not found a single thing I would like set up differently.
