The Pioneer Elite SC-65 is one amazing receiver sure to please!

The new 3D ready Pioneer Elite SC-65 elite receiver is nothing short of spectacular. This top of the line receiver is sure to satisfy even the most hardcore audiophiles. After constantly using the SC-65 for the past 3 months, I can say I am very happy with it. What I like most about the system is the integration with apple products. You can be listening to a song or album on your mac, iphone, or ipad and use the airplay feature to stream it directly to the receiver if you have it set up on the same internet network. If you download the pioneer iControAV2012 app you can use it on your iphone, ipad, or ipod touch to control almost any feature on the pioneer receiver. I still love the fact I can turn the receiver on and control almost any feature from anywhere in the house with the app. The picture and sound quality are some of the absolute best from any receiver I have used or tested. I am using it with a last generation Pioneer Kuro Elite and the picture is truly jaw dropping. The video conversion gives you the best picture from anything you connect to it. You also get Pandora radio, Sirius Radio, and Vtuner radio which offers thousands of radio stations from across the world. This receiver also supports 4K pass through (also known as 4K2K or Ultra High Defenition) which is the new high definition format expected to eventually replace 1080p. With 1080p TVs you have a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels thus the p at the end, which can also be referred to by some as progressive scan lines. With 4K you get 3840x2160 pixels/progressive scan lines resulting in an even much better picture than 1080p. Think of it as kind of a retina display on a ipad or iphone where the pixels are almost impossible to see resulting in a much clearer picture. Now 4K TVs are barely coming out now and are ridiculously expensive starting at over twenty grand, but will eventually drop to a reasonable price range in a few years. The first 4K2K blu-rays or Ultra Def blu-rays are expected to hit the market sometime in 2013. So with the 4K passthrough not only are you future proofing yourself, but you will be getting the absolute best quality that will even rival the best movie theaters. For some reason the UK version of pioneers website has much more detailed information and great videos on this model although their model number is SC-LX56-K and its the same receiver minus the elite branding.[...]Amazon deleted all the video links I posted which is why you will see the (...)UPDATE 11/26/2012 Firmware update for HTC CONNECTThere is a new update available on pioneers website, or you can download it directly from the receiver through the update software option if you have it connected to the internet via ethernet cable or the wifi adapter. This update now offers support for HTC Connect, Improves the stability of HDMI connection, and other improvement.UPDATE 01/21/2013 Firmware update for Apple Lossless, AIFF and gapless playbackPioneer releases another update for this receiver. The new firmware update adds support for Apple Lossless, AIFF and gapless playback. Apple Lossless - Apple Lossless (also known as ALAC) file format allows the exact data to be reconstructed from the compressed data. AIFF Files - AIFF files store and transmit uncompressed professional-level audio data. Gapless Playback - Gapless playback improves the listening experience by providing the user with uninterrupted playback of consecutive audio tracks. Hopefully pioneer will make it easier to find in the future.There are so many things that this receiver does that its hard to list them all, but I will go over some of my favorite ones. I upgraded to this receiver for a few reasons. For starters my old reciever (Onkyo TX-SR705) only had 3 HDMI inputs. I simply needed more. I have a bluray player, ps3, xbox 360 and soon to be Wii-U (once it is released). I had very little interest in using a cheap HDMI switchbox in fear decreasing the picture quality. Secondly I wanted more power for my 7.1 speaker setup. This receiver offered quite a boost from 100 watts per channel to 130 watts per channel. Since this receiver can do 9.1, which I don't have and don't plan on having, it allowed me to bi-amp my front speakers. Overall the extra power has resulted in increased clarity with games and movies. The receiver has an iPad app that is really quite neat and helps with the setup. It has auto calibration, like most receivers, and it works great. I have no complaints. This particular receiver is well built, offers plenty of hookups and has tons of listening modes. If one is looking for a nice powerful receiver this will do the job.Update 9-4-12:Over the holiday weekend I got to really test out the receiver. I am even more impressed than I was before.1) The video conversion is much stronger than my old Onkyo receiver. I run everything into my receiver and then to a 65 inch Panasonic plasma. The picture quality I am getting from the Pioneer is noticeably better than with the Onkyo. Colors are more detailed and blacks are darker. I never really expected to see a picture difference, just a sound difference, but it is there and quite nice. The picture quality increase is fantastic.2) I played some Gears of War 3, watched Hunger Games and played some Bioshock. The sound separation between the side and rear channels is a huge upgrade. I am getting a much stronger soundfield and the increased separation is really impressive. Media that is encoded 5.1 is upconverted to 7.1 with both my Pioneer and older Onkyo. The Onkyo did a good job, the Pioneer does an excellent job.3) The front display panel is a great feature. It shows what speakers are receiving a signal. It shows what format is being received among many other things. It also allows me to turn off all the display when I want to watch a movie in complete darkness.4) The calibration is very detailed with the SC-65. With my previous Onkyo calibration was a quick 2-3 minute ordeal. The Pioneer was more like 10-15 minutes. The difference really is telling. It measures distance, crossover and pitch. It was a very nice calibration. Everything sounds much more rich and realistic. Calibration was easy, simple and worked wonders. I couldn't be happier.5) My cabinets are all custom with built-in fans that turn off and on based on temperature. I measure the temperature constantly at all times for each device I have. The Pioneer SC-65, to my suprise, is not only more powerful but runs about 5-10 C cooler than the Onkyo. I don't quite get how this works, but it does. The receiver runs very cool. My receiver doesn't really get over 85C even after playing games for a few hours.

This product has everything you need in Home Intertainment. It intergrates with your Home Network and lets you stream music from any Laptop you have plus it also plays Pandora. It has plenty of power to drive any speaker set you may have and it runs cool with Class D amps. The surround is easy to set up with the auto MCACC setup mike. Musicaly it sounds great with just Stereo sound but with surround it is even better.. I have 7.1 surround sound set up on mine and movies sound and look AWESOME.
