Product Description

Our TX-NR626 delivers a knockout punch of value and performance. On the value side, you get built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth audio streaming technology. You can stream hi-res, lossless, and compressed formats from Smartphone, tablet, PC, and NAS using our remote app for music selection and playback. The receiver also comes with app-controllable internet radio and music streaming services, so you’ll never be short of music. On the performance side, six HDMI inputs and two ARC-enabled outputs support 4K and 3D pass-through, with lower resolution video upscale to 1080p on regular HDTVs (4K on compatible displays) using Qdeo processing technology. An MHL port handles hi-res video from Smartphone and tablet, and there’s a USB for audio playback from flash memory drive. Discrete WRAT amplifiers and Three-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry for the front and center channels deliver breathtaking surround sound, while MultEQ from Audyssey ensures your speakers and subwoofers are calibrated for optimum response. You can even bi-amp your front monitors and drive audio in a second zone. Powerful, easy to use, and packed with convenient technology, the TX-NR626 is unbeatable at this price point.

5Cordsolidation! (A review by a technology gourmet)
By Scott Jones
I purchased the Onkyo NR626 to replace a non-AV receiver.  My goal was to simplify the controls for my front-projection system and pave the way for future upgrades.  I was looking in the 300-600 price range, and wanted a few extra HDMI ports after connecting all my existing components.Amazon listed the unit as in-stock with a delivery time of 1-3 months. The unit arrived in just under a week. The time it took to open the box, yank my old system, and reconnect the speakers and devices was around an hour.  Turning the system on, the front panel directed me to the onscreen setup menus.  Apart from the on/off button I have not needed to use the front of the receiver. The 626 has ample HDMI ports, and it was a pleasure removing the separate optical audio cords and video cords from my previous setup.  No one likes the spiderweb of cords inherent with all component systems.  And reducing down to a single video cable from the receiver to the projector will eliminate one remote from my coffee table.  The receiver up-converts everything to a single video resolution (1080p in my case, but 4K video is an option) eliminating the need for any switching of inputs or resolution formats by the projector (Sanyo PLV-Z4).  I do not have any 4K/3D players or screens to review those features. The setup wizard directed me to plug in the included microphone for speaker calibration.  It detected my speaker numbers and distances automatically, though I had to reverse the wires on the rear speakers myself.  A few more screens confirmed my attached devices and preferences and we were back in operation. The included "quick start" manuals are sparse, there is a CD labeled "Instruction Manual" which probably has the more detailed information I may never need.  The on screen graphic interface is better than what I have seen in the past from AV receivers, still room for improvement in navigation, but perhaps I have grown to expect quite a bit in the smart phone era.I used wired network connection, and have not yet tried the wireless.  The iPad App installed easily and found the unit quickly.  Looks to be pretty fully functional, better than Sony iPad Apps I have used recently.I customized the remote to function as a TiVo controller, with a simple code the receiver provided onscreen, after I hunted through some menus to find where "TiVo" was categorized.  Didn't have to crack a manual to do it though, I just followed on screen instructions.Unit requires an Airplay or Apple TV unit to receive content from your iPad or apple device.  I haven't tested those features yet.So far the meets all my needs, exceeds my expectation, and has 4K and 3D capability waiting for the future.  Cost slightly more than a Denon 1713 or 1913 (which both have AirPlay built in) but I am happy with the capabilities, ease of use, and clean design of the Onkyo.
